Seriously, McDonald’s

14 Jun

Remember an incident that happened at a Wal-Mart store in New Jersey last year, when someone got on the intercom and ordered all African-Americans out of the building? Well, here we go again…

The now infamous “Seriously, McDonald’s?” pic that blew up Twitter over the last three days: it was a hoax. Just like the Wal-Mart incident; no harm, no foul.

I hate to break it to you, but there was harm. Ask anyone who read any of the thousands of hurtful, hateful comments that spewed forth the moment that image hit the net. The reality that racism is alive and well – maybe even stronger than ever, is inescapable. Just last week a “prankster” strung up a noose outside the barracks of a unit of the New Mexico Army National Guard. Hell, THE FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN PRESIDENT HAD TO SHOW HIS LONG-FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!

“We’ve come a long way.” That may be true but considering where we started that’s not saying very much. The glaring truth is, we still have a long, long way to go…

Nine Point One

13 Jun

America only gained 54,000 new jobs last month proving once and for all that Obama’s economic policies have failed…

Our only hope is that whoever wins the Republican primaries and beats President Obama next November gets the U.S. back on track, just like the last Republican President did. When George W. Bush left office we were losing 750,000 jobs a month. If we’d continued at that pace the unemployment number today would stand at 17 percent. When the economic collapse of 2008 occurred, the Bush Administration acted boldly to bail out Bear Sterns. Then they acted boldly to not bail out Lehman Brothers. Then they acted boldly to bail out all the too big to fail financial institutions that were left.

George W. Bush saved the economy.

Then along comes Barack Obama. He decides the best way to stem job losses would be to bail out the rest of us. Keynesian socialism at its best, or should I say worst. And this is the disastrous result of Obama’s actions:

Some would say we should look at the two million new jobs created since Obama’s stimulus bill was enacted, and compare that to the two million jobs lost under Bush during his last two years in office. Those people are what I like to call, wrong…

9.1 % unemployment is all you need to know. The facts that the workforce is larger than it was back in 2008 due to more older folks choosing to retire later, and due to more folks choosing to work under the table, and due to the fact that more babies of the baby-boomers are now of working age, may be true, but who cares? The facts that private sector jobs grew even though Republican governors were cutting state jobs, and even though Japan – one of our largest trading partners, basically shut down as a result of the earthquake, tsunami, nuclear meltdown they went through, and even though the global economy shrank while we still showed growth, are indisputable, but who cares?

Certainly not the voters who turned Congress over to the Republican Party last year, and are poised to turn the White House over to a Republican next year. To those patriotic Americans, facts don’t matter…
